MACE Mobile Training Facility- Building a skilled Tomorrow for Automotive Industry

Maruti Suzuki Center for Excellence has launched yet another first of its kind, an innovative concept called “Skill on Wheels” with an objective to up-grade skill amongst supplier partners of MSIL. Modules have been designed to impart hands on training to supplier personnel at their location. Technical knowledge & competent employees provide a company with a decisive advantage in a competitive world. The aim of this program is to expand the reach & continuously improve the skillset of employees with the target to reach global levels.

Primary trainings offered on  “SKILL ON WHEELS”:

  1. Pneumatics/Electro pneumatics:
    Pneumatic  power is extensively used in the industry & the system requires  compressed air as an input for the operations.  Hands on training, includes working on an array of pneumatic components like cylinders, valves, regulators, filters  etc to make compact systems. This training shall help enhance skill for optimum utilization of valuable utility leading to reduced operating cost, unscheduled downtime & achieve system reliability. 
     
  2. Hydraulics:
    Hydraulics deals with the principles of power transmission & control of mechanical motion . The elements like filters , pumps, valves, actuators , heat exchangers are used in conjunction to transmit power & multiply force. Hydraulics & electro- hydraulics are extensively used in many areas of industry viz. Machine tools, Presses, Injection Molding machines, Lifts & hoists etc. Fluid care is very important for the reliability & consistent performance of the machine. Training is imparted to understand the schematics, be able to design optimum circuits to enhance energy efficiency & logical troubleshooting procedure to find the cause of failure.
  3. Automation/Low Cost Automation
     It is a key to augmenting reliability in processes. In today’s contemporary world, PLC’s , HMI’s, SCADA controls & various sensors are extensively used  to control processes with little human intervention. These devices effectively communicate amongst  various sub elements & provide trigger at threshold levels  for timely intervention if needed. Training on basic & advanced PLC kits along with  Servo & VFD modules is imparted to the trainees to help them become proficient in implementing  low cost automation at  their respective plants.

  4. Condition Monitoring :
    It is the process of monitoring parameters of conditions in machinery (vibration, temperature, rpm, oil quality etc ) in order to identify a significant change which is indicative of a developing fault. Data can be used for accurate & reliable scheduling. Condition monitoring & taking suitable countermeasures can many a times increase the capacity of the plant without having to further invest on the capital assets. To begin with, critical machinery in the plant to be put through the predictive mode in order to take suitable pre-emptive actions to prevent failure & avoid its consequences. This program using predictive technology tools can make condition monitoring program self funded. This shall help increase reliability & Mean Time between Failures.

  5. Power Quality:
    It involves voltage, current , frequency & waveform. Ideally, in the industry , we need a steady electrical supply with parameters within the  prescribed range. Few of the Power Quality issues include electrical harmonics, transients,  low power factor, voltage instability & imbalances which impact efficiency of electrical equipment & is detrimental to the life of switchgear. Learning, monitoring of these parameters & taking effective countermeasures to correct the same shall help organization enhance reliability & reduce cost.

Skill on wheels shall help train ,educate personnel of MSIL value chain (T1/T2) & augment their skills to a higher level at their doorstep. Additionally, trainings in the behavioral, safety & quality domain shall also be imparted based on specific requirement. Through this initiative, all-round improvement in Productivity, Quality, Cost reduction, Safety, Technology Orientation & Employee engagement is envisaged. They can thus be more self-reliant in taking up projects based on their captive requirement. The program shall help respective plants embark on the journey to excellence & be  future ready on a sustainable basis for the ever expanding Indian & global  markets.
